Урок – дискуссия






Данный материал представляет собой методическую разработку заключительного урока по теме «What is on?» (УМК Карпюк О.) Урок направлен на развитие интеллектуальных и познавательных способностей у учащихся, расширение языковой и коммуникативной компетенций. Урок по теме «Телевидение в нашей жизни: плюсы и минусы» проводится в 9 классе со средним уровнем обученности. На уроке используются аутентичные материалы и выполненная учителем презентация в Power Point.

По типу урок комбинированный, включающий следующие этапы: организационный момент, речевую разминку, актуализацию изученных лексических единиц и речевых структур, презентацию проектов, подготовку к дискуссии (работа с ассоциограммой), ролевую игру, рефлексию и подведение итогов.

Создание проблемных ситуаций, использование в ходе урока заданий, формирующих параметры мыслительных операций: сравнение, анализ, синтез, обобщение, систематизация способствуют развитию творческого мышления учащихся.

На этапе ролевой игры учащиеся демонстрируют умение вычленить главное, выражать своё собственное мнение, соглашаться или не соглашаться с мнением оппонента.

На уроке организована индивидуальная, групповая и коллективная работа учащихся, используются задания «продвинутого» уровня, творческого характера, осуществляется контроль индивидуального домашнего задания исследовательского характера «Телевизионные предпочтения учеников моего класса»

Результаты исследовательского задания представляются в виде презентации учеником с высоким уровнем обученности .

^ Цели урока:


  • активизация знаний лексики и речевых структур по теме;

  • знакомство со страноведческим материалом по теме (слайды с заставками британских телепередач, известными актёрами и телеведущими);

  • вовлечение школьников в активную речевую деятельность на уроке путем использования современных средств обучения и различных организационных форм работы;




  • совершенствование речевых навыков (умение убеждать собеседника и отстаивать свою точку зрения; развивать критическое и логическое мышление при постановке проблемы, умение аргументировано высказываться, убеждать собеседников, учитывая при этом их аргументы и факты;


^ Задачи урока :
Образовательные: расширение языковой и коммуникативной компетенции учащихся.

Воспитательные: воспитывать уважительное отношение к точке зрения оппонента.

Оформление: плакат, фотографии с изображением фрагментов

телефильмов, телепередач, телевизионных знаменитостей,

презентация Power Point
Технические средства: компьютер, проектор, магнитофон

I .Организационный момент.
(Цель этапа — мотивация; работа проходит в режиме «учитель-ученик 1,2...»)

T : Hello, my friends! How are you today?

( Демонстрация слайдов с изображением знаменитых телеведущих, актёров)

Do you know these people? Where did you see them? (слайд1)
Can you guess the topic of today’s lesson?

So, today we are going to discuss a very interesting topic “Television in our life: pro and con” (слайд2)
During the lesson we are going to practice speaking and reading on the topic, making notes. You’ll present your projects. And of course, we’ll exchange opinions as for television effects on people.

Television is a reflection of the world. (слайд3)
Do you agree with this statement?

Television is one of the most wonderful discoveries made by a man. TV provides us with the latest news, informs us, shows different programmes, and entertains. So nowadays we can’t imagine our life without television.

Brainstorming “What do people watch TV for?”

Look at the blackboard. Let’s complete the table.

III .Актуализация изученных лексических единиц и речевых структур по теме.

Работа с видеофрагментом.
T : Now I offer you to watch the videofragment of the programme. Be ready to answer my questions and the other students’ ones after the watching.

(Учащиеся смотрят видеофрагмент телепередачи , затем отвечают на вопросы учителя) )

- Can you name the programme?

-Who are the contestants?

-What do the contestants have to do?

- How do they win?

- What is necessary to be a good announcer?
(good appearance (an attractive face and a reasonable figure); intelligence ( good understanding of language and a measure of common sense); good memory; a friendly, likeable manner; the right kind of voice (pleasant, quiet, confident); the ability to hold her/himself at ease before the camera).
Who are the other people making a top programme?

(It is the director, the floor manager, the camera operators, the sound engineers, the vision manager, the production secretary, several technicians, and many others.)

Now I want you to ask and answer about the makers of top programmes on TV. (Работа в парах с партнером)
What is the director responsible for? ( the director is responsible for the programme. From the control room, the director decides which images to use at each stage.)

What is the floor manager? What are his duties? ( the floor manager is the director’s representative on the studio floor. He/she organizes the work on the studio floor following the instructions of the director of a programme.)

What can you say about the work of a cameraman/operator? ( the camera operators must follow the director’s instructions on where to take the camera.)

What does the sound engineer do? ( the sound engineers control everything from microphones to mixing desks with a thousand lights and buttons.)

Is it necessary for the presenters to learn their lines? ( presenters don’t have to learn their lines because they can read them from the autocue.)

T : There are many different programmes on TV.

2) It’s time to work with the texts. Reading is one of the tasks at the English examination. Match the headlines with the short texts. One of the headlines is odd. Prove your choice with the key words from each of the text.

VI.Развитие навыков говорения.

Подготовка к дискуссии.
(Целью данного этапа является систематизация пройденного материала по теме; класс разбивается на 2 группы; каждая получает задание на выявление ассоциаций «Плюсы телевидения» и «Минусы телевидения».)

Слова и выражения ученики записывают на рабочих листах, затем читают их по очереди)
Т : Television gives us a lot of possibilities. But every medal has its reverse. So, TV also has bad points. There is a task for you:

  1. Write down the words and word-combinations concerning bad points of a television (1 group)

  2. Write down the words and word-combinations concerning good points of a television (2 group)

You have got 1 minute.
VI1. Дискуссия — ролевая игра.
(Учитель на данном этапе выступает в роли ведущего; учащиеся рассаживаются соответствующим образом; та группа, что работала над “плюсами” получают роли телепродюсера, телеведущего, социолога; другая – роли учителя, врача, родителя, психолога; также присутствует “независимый эксперт”, задача которого подвести итог дискуссии)
Т : Now I would like you to take part in the discussion.
“ Discussion” is from the Latin word that means exchange of opinions. Discussion is based on equal conditions for everybody. Each participant should hold certain discussion regulations:

I suggest you to act out the roles of a TV producer, a teacher, a little child's mother, a doctor, a TV announcer, a sociologist, a psychologist.
We'll discuss good and bad points of television.

TV has changed our life greatly. Do you agree with me?

T : Inna, you are the chief of our discussion, as usual. Your task is to keep the discussion to the point. Make sure everybody has an opportunity to express his/her opinion. And here are the statements.

Watching television has many advantages and disadvantages.(слайд11)

  1. Children and TV. Is television doing harm?

Disadvantages:

- Some mothers are very worried about the effect of television on young people. There’s a lot of rubbish on TV. Some violent programs and films make children violent.

- Many programmes are silly and teach young people only to buy things and enjoy themselves.

- Many children no longer read books. Reading is the key to all higher study, and needs constant practice.

- Some children have made watching TV their main leisure activity and they are not enriching their personalities by developing hobbies and belonging to clubs.

Some pupils do their homework in front of the television screen. Others rush their homework so they can watch television. In both cases, the quality of the work is affected. Some pupils are so attracted by television that they do not do their homework at all.

  • There are a lot of silly soap operas on TV. Many people just sit down in front of the “ box” and watch them. Television makes us lazier. We read less. We think less. We even talk less.

Advantages: (слайд12 -16)

- There are a lot of children programmes, animated cartoons historic films, documentaries , which are useful for children as they educate while entertaining.

- Quiz-programmes, for example, enrich our outlook and give us additional information, encourage us to become more educated and intelligent.

- However it hasn’t been proven that there is a connection between the violence on TV and violence in our society.

- TV is a source of education and pleasure. There are often programmes for teens, which are dramatized for TV. Such programmes help pupils very much to prepare for lessons, because they don’t have enough time to read all the textbooks.
^ 2. Television is doing a lot of harm and may lead to poor health. (слайд17-20)

Disadvantages:

- Television may lead to poor health, through rushed meals, lack of sleep, lack of exercise and eyestrain.

- Many boys and girls watch TV on Sunday afternoon, when outside activities would do them so much good.

- If you do watch TV too long you could soon be wearing glasses.

Advantages:

- Television helps us to relax after a hard day’s work. We can then cope better with the next day’s work.

- Sometimes we can relax, entertain ourselves when we are tired. Moreover its stops people feeling lonely, it is educational and cheap.

- Television helps us to escape from stress and problems.
^ 3.The more channels we have the better.

Disadvantages:

There are a lot of useless programmes on TV. Watching TV takes all free time from almost all people. We just watch it, not concentrate, and waste time.

Advantages:

- First of all television keeps people informed; we can learn a lot of information watching TV. We can choose programs that appeal to us more , because TV provides programs for all interest.

- We become better informed by watching documentaries, science programmes, discussions and by learning about the most important economics, social and political issues of the day.

- . It offers different competitions and quizes. Quizes make people interested in reading.

- Television brings the world to our living-room. We see people in our country and in other lands, and learn of their lands, occupations, opinions and problems.

- We become more cultured people by learning more of the arts.

^ 4. Commercials are interesting, useful and necessary.

Disadvantages:

- There are many advertisements on TV. They make people buy things they don’t need, don’t talk about the products’ defects, show life unrealistically.

Advantages:

- Advertisement on TV gives us information about different products and it makes easier to choose things to buy. When we watch TV we learn about the world, famous people and global or recent news.
^ 5 . Television may be the cause of many disputes and conflicts in the family.

Disadvantages:

- Some specialists say television also influences family life and conversation. People have no time to talk to each other.

Advantages:

-Television programmes gather big audiences. Apart from their entertainment value, they provide useful topics of conversation.

- TV stations broadcast also talk shows on serious issues like alcoholism, drug abuse, relationship between parents and their children; different specialists give some advice on problems in the family.

We think that TV is a part of our life, the most popular mean of mass media. But we should not watch TV too long and try to choose only useful TV programmes.
In my opinion we need TV inspire of it’s disadvantages .As for me I like that there is great choice of programs and wide range of topics and problems for discussion on TV. I think it’s important to keep people informed about almost everything. People must know important information because they can use it in useful and right way.
