ATLANTS’  RETURN

         CHAPTER 1

I am Alex. I am a grade seven student. This morning at nine my classmates and I have an English examination. Now it is ten minutes to nine and I am in a great hurry. I am rushing to my school. I cross the street and what is this? There is a metal plate on the pavement. Should I pick it up? Why is it so light? There is no time to think about it. I put the plate into my bag and go to school.
I take my exam and sit at the desk. Oh, my! This is such a difficult exam! I have no idea how to accomplish it! What will I do? Maybe I will look at my new plate instead? I take the plate out of my bag and look at it. And. Oh, my! What is written on it? I can clearly see the answers to my exam. What a miracle!
When the examination is over, my best friend Costya and I go to a café.

‘Is that play really magic?’

‘I think so. It helped me write the English exam.’

‘Okay. Let`s test it. If it helps you in a crisis, it will help you now.,’ Costya catches my hand and tries to push me out of the café, but some power prevents him and he gives up. We are shocked. The plate really is magic. We leave the café and decide to test it in Costya`s cottage.

  CHAPTER 2

The Great Master switched off the computer and strolled slowly down a huge hall. Fantastic! At last his message had been received by two inhabitants of the Earth! He was eager to see what would happen next.
Would they understand the symbol on the plate? This was very important for the Great Master. Day-by-day his capsule approached the magma of the Earth. Just a little bit further and they’d be finished. Atlant closed his eyes.

‘Oh, God! God Almighty! Please help us save the humans.’

The Great Master is the only one now left in all the world who knows the fate of the planet. It will last eternally as long as the Atlants live on it.

But the capsule that holds the surviving Atlants still sinks into the depths of the Earth and there is no power, to stop its ruinous sinking. It approaches the nucleus of the planet. Soon the fire-spitting magma will destroy the walls of the capsule, kill the Atlants on board, and with them-the whole of the human race. As it is written in the codex of his planet: Life will last on the Earth as long as the Atlants live on it.

  CHAPTER 3

The blue-eyed three-metre-tall giant remembered Atlantida, a huge island, washed by the waves of the great ocean. This island could be found between Gibraltar and the eastern coast of North America. With rich cities and attractive villages, Atlantida enjoyed spring all year round.

Everyone was equal there. No one was offended, or oppressed. Medicine, art, science- they bloomed like juicy cherries in April. Within their first flights to space, their astronauts landed on Mars.

Mars, now there was a tragic story.
As soon as the Atlants left their space ship near a huge crater, they were surrounded by thousands of rats. The little beasts nibbled on the giants` spacesuits, pushing, kicking, and biting their intruders. At first the giants laughed, but the creatures’ greeting soon wore off and the giants threw them by the handful off the crater’s slope. That’s when she appeared. The crowd made way, and a fat grey rat stepped forward .
